Raspberry Pi passes EMC Testing
Raspberry Pi passes EMC Testing
For those of us who have been eagerly awaiting the Raspberry Pi, there is good news! As of Friday the 6th, Raspberry Pi’s blog has announced that the Raspberry Pi has passed EMC testing without any type of hardware modification. The Raspberry Pi foundation booked the Panasonic testing chamber for a whole week and knocked our EMC requirements for: CE regulations in the UK, FCC regulations in the US, CTick regulations in Australia, and Industry Canada regulations in Canada. The EMC testing requires that the Raspberry Pi unit be subjected to radiation testing, electrostatic discharge testing, etc.
Currently the Raspberry Pi Foundation is working on completing all paper work associated with the EMC testing. Pending the completion of the paper work and approval by distributors RS Components and element14/Premier Farnell we should begin seeing shipments of the Raspberry Pi units!
Unfortunately, I was unable to nab a pre-order of the Raspberry Pi. I won’t be able to post any hardware or software guides until I can get a unit. By the look of this time frame, this might not be until mid to later summer. If anyone of our readers has managed to get their hands on a pre-order, please let us know! We’d love to have some of you guest write a guide for the site.
